An Artist of Peace and Light
A journey through art, culture, and peace
Alireza Ghoojari grew up at the crossroads of ethnicities and religions, witnessing war and fratricide from an early age. Perhaps for this reason, he later founded the Peace and Friendship Association in his hometown and has since nurtured a vision of a world shaped by peace.
For many years, he has been actively engaged in various mediums of visual arts and has participated in numerous prestigious national and international art symposiums. Over the past decade, he has taken part in more than 20 workshops, residencies, and artistic events, and has performed over 150 action painting and performance works in diverse contexts.
In his embodied works, elements such as dance, scent, sound, music, spatial memory, and the collective energy of the audience flow together. In his action painting performances, he navigates an ambiguous dialogue between the global and the local, employing Iranian–Eastern motifs and drawing upon rituals and mythology.
His works consistently emerge through travel. Journeying to significant sites such as prisons, flood-affected areas, war zones, ancient landscapes, major art events, and historically significant architectural sites, he draws upon local music as well as historical and social narratives. Through these encounters, he engages in an inward journey that culminates in the creation of each artwork.
A cosmopolitan at heart, he considers the manifesto of these works to be the expansion of love, empathy, and friendship. He is an artist of peace and light.
This body of work is titled "Botanic Madness"
